RECENT EVENTS - FAISLA AND LOADED GUNS
|
| |
A few
months back, I visited Machol farm and
found it to be grossly mismanaged by
Dhani Bux Jatoi (DB) and his equally
useless staff. I sent a letter by
courier to DB and his uncle Zafar Jatoi
via courier about the state of affairs,
a copy of which can be viewed under
correspondence. Not only was the farm
mismanaged, but DB had not paid his
staff salaries for 4 months. Worst
still, he had blackmailed and hoodwinked
the old farm manager Master Ahmed Mallah
to pay the farm expenses and to date
still owes him 2 lac rupees. Utterly
shameful.
I asked two of my personal employees to
stay at the farm and try to improve the
situation and see whether they could
arrange for stocking of the fish farm.
Dhani Bux thought I was trying to take
over the land and asked his senior
family member Hadi Bux Jatoi to try and
sort out a deal. Avoiding to worsen the
situation, and eager to end the
stalemate, I agreed to a 'Faisla' by
prominent people of Hyderabad.
Dhani Bux was all apologetic and wanted
me to stick to the old expired
agreement of 2006 (due to several
defaults in payment by DB), I wanted a
new agreement considering that I did not
get my rightful share in the first place
and only agreed under coercion and
blackmail. It was agreed that everyone
should think it over and there will be
another meeting after Eid holidays under
the Faisla. In the meantime, DB arranged
for hoodlums and took over the control
of the lake during one night by deceit
and deception like a coward. I ignored
this move as I was expecting the matter
to be resolved in the 'Faisla'. Dhani
Bux once again acted like scum and went
out of town the day the final Faisla was
to be held. DB did not even bother
informing the senior people he called
"Chacha" of his decision that he was
running away. Yes, with his tail
stuck between his legs.
On our visit to Machol Fish Farm in
November 2008, we were warned not to
enter the farm by 6-7 hoodlums of Dhani
Bux Jatoi armed with single / double
barrel shotguns and repeaters. They
loaded their guns and pointed them
straight at us. We were completely
unarmed and 5 in number and wanted to
visit our own fish farm but were not
expecting loaded guns to be pointed at
us and
DB's hoodlums shouting and threatening
and jumping like rabid dogs. Did we turn
around and run away. Not on your life.
We got out of the car, went right past
the ranting guards and sat ourselves on
chairs set up at the Otak. Then we
realized that the guards had been busy
digging up trenches as we saw half dug
trenches and picks and shovels. Seemed
like they were preparing for World War
III. Nerves, paranoia or just
scared. Apparently someone had informed
them that Khalid was coming for a visit.
The guards became very edgy and started
looking at nooks and crannies and in the
drainage ditch and elsewhere as if they
were expecting an army to pop up and
take over the farm. They thought I would
also stoop to their level and bushwhack
as DB had done. Anyway, we left after a
while without a shot being fired. It was
absolutely a thrilling experience. And
naturally like boss like employees.
